Heritage Library Management Software fits most small to medium sized libraries well, but it fits the requirements of colleges best of all. Over half of the Colleges of FE in the UK use the Heritage.
The key to success in this sector is the combination of software design and pricing. Heritage software has all the sophisticated functions required to run efficiently in a demanding and busy college environment, but is also priced in such a way to make widespread implementation around the institution affordable. Perhaps just as importantly, the costs of ongoing support are modest in comparison to many alternative systems. One purchaser was able to fund the acquisition of Heritage on the basis of the previous support charges with another supplier!
A range of colleges use Heritage, not just FE institutions. Other users include a large number of 6th Form colleges and specialist institutions such as medical libraries and theological colleges.
