Heritage Open Days

Heritage open days are a great opportunity to meet IS Oxford staff, look at latest developments in Heritage and visit some notable sites in Oxford city centre. In short, a great day out!

It was informative, fun, enlightening and really nice to meet all the people who help us so much throughout the year...if you haven't already booked for one of the other days this year - do so now, they are really good.......!

Sue Walsgrove, City of Wolverhampton College

"Thank you so much for laying on another wonderful Open Day. We found the presentations interesting and informative, the lunch luscious, and relished our trip to the Ashmolean. Is it too early to book for next year?!"

Jackie Mulchrone, Haberdashers' Aske's Boys' School

"Many thanks to you all for a lovely day yesterday. I found the morning very interesting and informative and it was nice to chat with other Heritage users and IS Oxford staff over the fabulous lunch! The Ashmolean visit was heightened by the closing doors – it was like a mystery tour!! I shall definitely make the time to visit the museum again – so much to see."

Angela Brown, Harrow College

What does an Open Day involve?

The itineraries of our Open Days follow the same general pattern. Following is the itinerary of the 20th October 2011 day:

  • 9.30am Coffee & Tea available at the Chapel
  • 10.30am Everyone escorted to SAE Lecture theatreHeritage presentation
  • 10.45am Presentation of Heritage, including news of Heritage Cirqa by Emma Duffield, Sales Manager, and Neville Jones, Development Manager, followed by a Q&A session with various IS staff
  • 12.15pm Return to IS Oxford for a sandwich lunch with IS staff at the Chapel (a chance to take a look around the Chapel and meet our team and lots of Heritage customers)
  • 1.40pm Coach transfer into Oxford City Centre
  • 2.00pm Those who wish to can join us on a visit to Christ Church College in Oxford. Christ Church is one of the most famous Oxford colleges, with impressive buildings and beautiful stained glass windows. In recent years it has been used as a location in the Harry Potter films. If you'd rather do your own thing you can just get a lift into Oxford on the coach with us. For those that would rather stay at the Chapel we will be running a Heritage training session on "Getting to grips with your Heritage data" (limited to 20 places) and an Open Surgery for any of your questions.
  • 3.30pm Coach transfer back to the Chapel (those travelling home by rail or coach can remain in the City centre where the stations are within walking distance).

A good lunch!

I thoroughly enjoyed the day - the buffet was the probably the best I've had on a course and the trip to the Ashmolean was brilliant - am going to go back sometime and make a day of it!

Ann Evans, Health Services Management Centre

"Thank you for a really lovely day in Oxford. It was without doubt, the best organised event I have ever attended since working in our school, and I've been here 11 years! I found your session on Heritage really imformative, and I cannot wait to get the time to start trying things out. The visit to the Bodlleian Library was fantastic, so interesting. The whole day was great, well presented, run at a good pace and very enjoyable and you were right about the lunch, it was delicious. It was all well worth the journey!"

Pat Jones, George Green's School

A fine day for an Open Day

Thank you all for a lovely day in Oxford yesterday. It was very good indeed for me to meet so many other librarians and I found quite a few with the same sorts of libraries and similar problems to me. The exchange of ideas and experience was very useful indeed as was the excellent presentation of the update to Heritage. I know that a lot of hard work went into the smooth running of the day – I get involved in that sort of things as well – and I really appreciated all the care and attention shown.

Linda Gough, Fortune Centre for Riding Therapy
