IS Oxford Open Days

Our Open Days are a great opportunity to meet IS Oxford staff, look at latest developments in Heritage and visit some notable sites in Oxford city centre. In short, a great day out!

It was informative, fun, enlightening and really nice to meet all the people who help us so much throughout the year...if you haven't already booked for one of the other days this year - do so now, they are really good.......!

Sue Walsgrove, City of Wolverhampton College

"The IS staff, as always, made a huge effort to make us all welcome and it was a great opportunity to network not only with IS people but also with other Heritage users. The buffet lunch has to be one of the best you could find anywhere and the film locations walk in the afternoon was really interesting. All in all, a very worth-while day out of the office and to be recommended for all Heritage users."

Judy Powles, Spurgeon's College

"Many thanks to you all for a lovely day yesterday. I found the morning very interesting and informative and it was nice to chat with other Heritage users and IS Oxford staff over the fabulous lunch! The Ashmolean visit was heightened by the closing doors – it was like a mystery tour!! I shall definitely make the time to visit the museum again – so much to see."

Angela Brown, Harrow College

What does an Open Day involve?

The itineraries of our Open Days follow the same general pattern. Following is the itinerary of the 2nd May 2013 Open Day:

For more details, including how to book related etraining, see the outline below.

  • 1.40pm Coach transfer into Oxford City Centre for those joining the tours.
  • 2.00pm Those who are coming into Oxford can either opt to spend some time in the famous Ashmolean museum, home to the Alfred Jewel (and countless other treasures), or join us on a 'Behind the Scenes' tour of Christ Church College. If you'd rather do your own thing you can just get a lift into Oxford on the coach with us.
  • or

  • 2.00pm For those wishing to stay at the Chapel for the afternoon training we will be continuing the theme of the morning session and focussing primarily on ways in which you can use Heritage (and Heritage Cirqa) to manage overdues and the eternal problem of leaver with loans! The training is limited to 20 places.
  • 3.30pm Coach transfer back to the Chapel (those travelling home by rail or coach can remain in the City centre where the stations are within walking distance).

A good lunch!

I thoroughly enjoyed the day - the buffet was the probably the best I've had on a course and the trip to the Ashmolean was brilliant - am going to go back sometime and make a day of it!

Ann Evans, Health Services Management Centre

"Effective Stock Management in Heritage & Heritage Cirqa"

If you are interested in the talk we are giving but you are unable to come to the Open Day then you can always book a short etraining session (a 30 minute session, costing £50 plus VAT can cover one or more of the following topics covered on the day). The course content has yet to be finalized but will broadly cover the following:

"Thank you for a really lovely day in Oxford. It was without doubt, the best organised event I have ever attended since working in our school, and I've been here 11 years! I found your session on Heritage really imformative, and I cannot wait to get the time to start trying things out. The visit to the Bodlleian Library was fantastic, so interesting. The whole day was great, well presented, run at a good pace and very enjoyable and you were right about the lunch, it was delicious. It was all well worth the journey!"

Pat Jones, George Green's School

A fine day for an Open Day

Thank you all for a lovely day in Oxford yesterday. It was very good indeed for me to meet so many other librarians and I found quite a few with the same sorts of libraries and similar problems to me. The exchange of ideas and experience was very useful indeed as was the excellent presentation of the update to Heritage. I know that a lot of hard work went into the smooth running of the day – I get involved in that sort of things as well – and I really appreciated all the care and attention shown.
